Ravindra Jadeja was born on 6 December 1988 in Navagam-Khed, Jamnagar district, Gujarat. His father's name is Anirudhsinh and his mother's name is Lata. He has two sisters, Naina and Deepa. Jadeja did his schooling at Sarvodaya Vidya Mandir, Jamnagar. He was a good student as well as a good sportsman.
He started his cricket career by playing for the local team of Gujarat. Later he played for the Under-19 cricket team of India. In the year 2007, he made his first-class debut for Saurashtra against Bengal in the Ranji Trophy tournament. In this match, he scored 60 runs and took 3 wickets. After that, there was no looking back for him and he went on to establish himself as one of the leading all-rounders in India.

Ravindra Jadeja made his first-class debut in 2006 for Saurashtra. He scored his maiden first-class century against Orissa in 2008. He was the leading wicket-taker for Saurashtra in the 2008–09 Ranji Trophy, with 29 dismissals in six matches. In 2009, he was bought by the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Rajasthan Royals for $950,000. In the 2011 IPL season, he took 19 wickets at an average of 16.05 and was named the Most Valuable Player of the season as Rajasthan Royals won the title.
In 2012, Ravindra Jadeja scored his maiden Test century against England at Lord's. He followed it up with another century in the next Test at Nottingham. Jadeja did his schooling at Jamnagar High School and college at KishanGangotri Gujarati medium college affiliated with Saurashtra University located at Rajkot. From early childhood, he took interest in playing cricket and even dreamed of becoming a cricketer one day. His family was supportive of his dreams and did everything to encourage him. When he was just 12 years old he shifted to Rajkot to play under-19 cricket for West Zone after being observed by DulaBhaiParmar, a former Gujarat Ranji player who was also the scout for the West Zone team at that time
